NATO and next week's CNI meeting in DC

For those attending the CNI Task Force meeting in Washington DC next Monday and Tuesday, you've probably heard by now that the NATO 50th Anniversary meeting is going to be taking place in DC on Friday-Sunday. This is a huge meeting with very heavy security; a number of streets are being closed, and pedestrian traffic is being restricted in some areas.

Our conference hotel assures us that they should be reachable by taxi and shuttle; they are not in the area that is part of the street closings. However, due to motorcades, people in DC are being warned to expect monumental traffic snarls on Friday-Sunday and perhaps Monday morning as well, so you should plan for these. Also, for people arriving over the weekend, you will want to be aware of the various impacts that the NATO meeting will have on traffic patterns.

There is an excellent map of the planned street and foot-traffic closings available on the Washington Post web site, http://washingtonpost.com/ as well as information about changes to public transit that are being made to accomodate the NATO meeting. You may wish to consult this site.

I look foward to seeing you on Monday for our meeting.
