Describes how ATHENS operates for protected/unprotected resources. Shows the mechanisms for authentication and how the system can have several different user interfaces. All these work in similar fashion
Control over access to specific parts of resource is up to DSP and depends on licence arrangements. Could be to entire resource (eg a run of journals) or limited to a sub set ( a year, an edition, an article, a page). Whether this detail is built into ATH
DSPís can build in their own timeout mechanisms using the ATHENS C-API. BIDS for example times out users after a certain time. Other mechanisms could be written by DSPís
