Dissertations and Masters Theses in Digital Format:
Publishing Solutions for Authors, Readers and Graduate Institutions
Creating a Digital Library
- UMI is now accepting dissertations and theses in selected digital formats
- UMI is now scanning all incoming paper submissions and reformatting into Adobe PDF
- Beginning in 1997, dissertations and theses in Adobe PDF format will be available for browsing and downloading over the World Wide Web.
Providing Access to the Digital Library
- A full year of the Dissertations Database citations will be freely available on the Web by March 31, 1997.
- Institutional subscription to Web delivery of the entire database will be available March, 1997.
Services to the Graduate Education Community
- Beginning in 1997, UMI will provide source institutions with free Web access to all documents they submit for publication.
- UMI will provide university libraries with MARC records to their annual dissertation and Masters theses submissions. Available March, 1998
- UMI will provide a link to citations and abstracts for dissertations and theses done in the past year at individual institutions. Any institution wishing to provide a World Wide Web offering of *Current Research at XYZ University* can use this link for those purposes. Available March, 1997
