Now, the hard part is over. Let's get our hands on some nifty Macintosh networking applications to use in the Internet Room. Go back to the central Macintosh server to perform this first step.
Obtain source from Coalition server
1. Go into the "Fetch" folder (which is located in the "Network" folder you created earlier in the day. Within the Fetch folder, you will find an application. Start it up, and you will see the following window appear on your screen:
2. In the "Open Connection" dialogue box, enter the following information, and click the "OK" button:
* Host: ftp.cni.org
* User ID: anonymous
* Password: youremail@your.host.name
* Directory: /pub/LITA/inetroom/software
3. If the network is operating (you may have to wait for DRA to come up for this to work), you will see a listing of software packages in the window on the left. You should download all of these software packages, and place them into the "Network" folder.
NOTE: Many of these are BinHexed and/or compressed. Fetch will automatically de-BinHex them, if you would like (choose automatic transfer type). However, you may need to use "Compact Pro" or "StuffIt Expander" to uncompress them after they are downloaded.
4. Once each application is stored in the "Network" folder, you can use AppleShare to copy them to the other Macintosh machines in the Internet Room.
5. Each software package will have to be configured on each machine.
