SENIOR CHILDREN'S MEDIA RESEARCHER
The Center for Media Education (CME) is seeking a research professional
in the children's media field to plan and direct projects relating to
online and interactive media and children's television. Current work
includes playing a key leadership role in implementing CME's research
initiative on the healthy development of children and the new media.
This individual will also direct other cutting-edge research projects
and related activities, including supervising staff and writing
educational and other materials.
CME is a 10-staff, $1 million budget, national non-profit organization
dedicated to improving the quality of the electronic media and
fostering telecommunications policy making in the public interest, with
a primary focus on children, through its research, advocacy, public
education, and press activities. Founded in 1991, CME has become the
leading organization working in the children and media field.
Requirements: Post-graduate degree is preferred, in an area such as
communications, education, educational technology, or child
development. Demonstrated experience in these or related fields;
excellent written and oral communication skills; supervisory
experience; and computer literacy. Requires the ability to work as
part of a multi-disciplinary team working in the forefront of new
technologies and children.

PRESS AND PUBLIC OUTREACH COORDINATOR
The Center for Media Education (CME) is seeking an energetic,
organized, and savvy press and public relations professional to manage
public outreach efforts. This individual will help develop, execute,
and coordinate strategic press efforts, assist with planning, writing,
developing, and implementing public relations and outreach, web site,
and publications activities. He or she may also play a coordinating
role in maintaining a coalition of key advocates.
CME is a 10-staff, national non-profit public interest helping to
ensure the electronic media fulfill their democratic potential. CME,
with a budget of approximately $1 million, fosters telecommunications
policy making in the public interest, with a primary focus on children
and families, through its research, advocacy, public education, and
press activities.
Requirements: College degree is required, in an area such as
journalism, communications, or media. Current knowledge and experience
in digital communication and experience developing digital
communication strategies required. At least five years of demonstrated
success in journalism and writing, public relations, press relations,
marketing, and/or web site management; excellent written and oral
communication skills. Should demonstrate excellent writing skills, and
ability to prioritize and organize multiple responsibilities. Requires
the ability explain, advocate, and frame key policy issues in CME's
public outreach and education efforts.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE: ON-LINE SAFEGUARDS
The Center for Media Education (CME) is seeking a committed individual
to assist in research and other project related tasks for CME's on-line
safeguards program, specifically dealing with privacy, marketing, and
advertising issues on the Internet.
CME is a 10-staff, national non-profit public interest organization
helping to ensure that the electronic media fulfill their democratic
potential. CME, with a budget of approximately $1 million, fosters
telecommunications policy making in the public interest, with a primary
focus on children and families, through its research, advocacy, public
education, and press activities.
Requirements: College degree is required. Interest in and familiarity
with new media, specifically the Internet, is a must. Candidate will
need to be completely computer-literate (MacIntosh preferred). We
expect a public interest commitment and interest in electronic commerce
and public policy. We're looking for good writing, research,
organizational, and follow-through skills, as well as administrative
skills and attention to detail. Requires initiative, flexibility, and
ability to prioritize and organize multiple responsibilities.
