*** PLEASE REPOST ****
My thanks to Ray Everett-Church for his assistance getting this up and
running!
CYBERTELECOM-L is a listserv discussion of telecommunication regulatory
issues facing the Internet. The goal of this
listserv is to create a central discussion space for the Internet
Community to discuss, debate, and receive notice of such issues
as
* The access charge debate
* The continued viability of the Enhanced Service Provider status
* Tariffs, and access to tariff information
* DSL, ISDN, and LADS lines
* Competition and negotiations with telephone companies
* Interconnection
* Comparably Efficient Interconnection and Open Network Architecture
* Becoming a competitive local exchange carrier
* Universal Service and the Internet
* SUPERNet and Wireless Internet
* Internet Telephony
* Notice of upcoming regulatory proceedings and how to participate
* Pending telecommunications legislation
The scope of the discussion is defined as all issues effecting the
Internet on the State or Federal level which fall under the
Communications Act of 1934, Title 47 of the United States Code (the
Telecommunications Act of 1996 amends the Communications Act of 1934).
This also includes such issues as the Communications Decency Act and
certain SPAM proposals which would amend the Communications Act and fall
under the jurisdiction of the Federal Communications Commission.
Also welcomed are brief notices of other federal regulatory action
effecting the Internet. While these topics may be more
appropriately discussed elsewhere, it is the goal of this listserv to
create one central space where the Internet community can
receive proper and timely notice of Federal regulatory events without
having to wade through the Federal Register.
This list is open to Internet service providers, Internet industry,
Internet trade associations, public interest groups, scholars,
professionals, and all other interested parties.
