FINS INFORMATION AGE LIBRARY INAUGURATES NEW WEBSITE
Host is SunSITE at University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Washington, DC--Federal Information News Syndicate announced today that a new
website for Fins Information-Age Library ("FIAL"), has been established.
Host of the new archive is SunSITE (Sun Software, Information, and Technology
Exchange) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. SunSITE is part of Sun
Microsystems' pioneering program to showcase the value of networked
information technology through grants and partnerships with selected
universities. Fins Information Age Library, home page, includes a purposive
set of directories for relevant information, critical synthesis, and dialogue
focused upon the emerging philosophy of the Information Age.
The URL of the new FIAL is http://sunsite.utk.edu/FINS/.
Among the most important new documents and links installed at the new archive
are the following:
* Albie Davis article on, "Liquid Leadership," featuring the wisdom
of Mary Parker Follett, an early 20th-century American of special
distinction, recently described by Peter Drucker as "the brightest
star in the management firmament" [Fins-MPF-03].
* John W. Warfield article on, "How To Design A Meeting: Context,
Content, Process"; advice from the guru of group dialogue for all who
seek the design of group organization to competently deal with
contemporary complexity [Fins-PS-03].
* John W. Warfield annotated bibliography from the master, on
complexity, organization, and design [Fins-PS-04].
* Vigdor Schreibman article on, "Knowledge Organization for the
Betterment of Humankind" [Fins-KO-01].
* PubLib-Net discussion on Library Internet filtering [Fins-II3-01].
* Seven national library associations cooperative proposals for
reform of government information policy [Fins-PI3-01].
* Karin Geiselhart article on, "Moving towards the millennium," a
PhD student essay presented at proceedings of the International
Federation of Information Processing, on 'Culture and Democracy
Revisited in the Global Information Society' Corfu [Fins-TI2-01].
