Grassroots Groups Meet To Combine Efforts
Jack Koenig, Chairman of The Impact Voters of America, has announced that
the affiliated group of grassroots organizations known as The Impact
Alliance will meet at the Comfort Inn O'Hare, in Rosemont IL on July 27,
1997 at 1:00pm. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss and expand =
on
the synergies and relationships built while fighting Edgar's "Education"
initiative. In addition to the original groups fighting the proposed inco=
me
tax increase, similar organizations have been also invited to attend. Dem=
's

e
their "pet" issues at the door and concentrate on better government,
developing effective networking techniques, and the installation of a 12
member Steering Committee.=20
The primary purpose of the all important Steering Committee will be to
select future issues on which The Impact Alliance will focus. These issue=
s
may include referendum initiative, supermajority requirements for tax
increases, government arrogance and similar matters. Although the Steerin=
g
Committee will perform most of their work over the phone, through faxes,
e-mail, snail mail, etc., they will meet at least once quarterly... more
often if conditions warrant. At no time will divisive issues such as
abortion, gay rights, gun control, etc. be addressed. These are better le=
ft
to groups whose main agenda covers those points.
Some of the invited organizations, most of which have confirmed, include:
Citizens Advocacy Center Heartland Institute
Illinois Coalition of Western Lake County Illinois Family Institute
Illinois Citizens Action Illinois Businessmen's Assn
Illinois Forum Taproots=09

In addition, at least one mayor, a former gubernatorial candidate, a
current gubernatorial candidate, several committeemen, various school boa=
rd

ue
to space limitations, participation by any group is limited to three memb=
ers.
