ABOUT THE DOUGLASS POLICY INSTITUTE
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Founded in 1993, the Douglass Policy Institute (DPI) is a nonpartisan,
tax-exempt education and research organization. DPI promotes public
awareness of major public policy issues through research and policy
development, publications, issues forums and briefings, and outreach
to the print, broadcast and new media. DPI conducts research on public
policy issues in the areas of communications, economic development,
affirmative action, education and technology, education reform, and
black voter participation.
ACTIVITIES
POLICY DEVELOPMENT: DPI conducts research on public policy issues in
the areas of telecommunications, education and technology, education
reform, economic development, affirmative action and black voter
participation. DPI submits comments and testimony in agency rulemaking
proceedings.
PUBLICATIONS: From 1994 to 1995, DPI published "The InfoLetter," a
monthly newsletter focusing on public policy issues related to the
development and deployment of the information superhighway. Beginning
in May 1996, DPI will publish "The Douglass Letter," an on-line
newsletter featuring news, information and commentary about current
events and policy developments.
FORUMS: DPI holds national issues forums to provide special focus
and interactive discussion on selected public policy issues. Video
excerpts from DPI's June 1995 forum on affirmative action were included
in the National Town Hall Meeting, "A Matter of Race," broadcast on
Black Entertainment Television.
