Dear Linda,
I have read with great interest your note on "thesauri, classification
systems, gazetteers, ontologies..". One of my projects that I lead is
called "EKNOS" and stands for "Navigation through Earth Observation
Knowledge". We are trying to achieve easy navigation and searching
through facts and figures in a domain model, here EO. The system will
be soon accessable on-line, we are doing at the moment some final tests
on the first version of it. It is based on an Ontology for the EO
domain implemented on a Knowledge Base (OODMS/Objectstore) and linked to
a thesaurus.
Your effort in the area of "networked knowledge organization
systems/services (NKOS)" is highly relevant for us as well and I would
be interested to know more about the way your group intents to proceed.
(it looks funny that I anticiptated the ..NKOS in our project working
title).
Looking forward to hear from you.
Best Regards, Matthias Zingler
