The Basic Semantic Registry does assign a number to each registered
semantic unit, and these can be displayed as an "inheritance chain"
(my term). Apparently there is some sophisticated object modelling
behind this approach, though that's an area I'm not really qualified
to evaluate. Has anyone on this list looked into that aspect of the
BSR and ISO 11179?
