Mr. De Vries,

In North Carolina, we have an executive order to develop a GILS pilot
or prototype. It is "related to" our amended public records law,
which requires all state and local agencies to index their databases.
You can obtain a copy of the executive order, our GILS vision statement,
and other related documents at our NC GILS development Web site, which is

   http://www.ncgils.state.nc.us/NCGILS

Other states that are developing GILS include Washington, New York,
Florida, South Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, as well as the
city of Philadelphia. I hope this information helps.
