Subject: GILS to USMARC mapping.


I'm working on the mapping GILS records to USMARC, as described in the
GILS profile V2.  I have a few questions for the GILS/USMARC experts.

USMARC mapping requires that you specify the Type of Record which is
one of: an electronic information recource, a geospatial resource, or
some other type of resource.  Is there a GILS element that determines
the Type of Record?  If not, should we define one?  Under what
conditions should the Type of Record be geospatial?

What does it mean when a single GILS element maps to multiple USMARC
tags?  Does it mean that the element is replicated once for each
USMARC tag?
