REQUEST FOR PROGRAM PROPOSALS FOR THE 1997 ANNUAL
MEETING OF THE SOCIETY OF AMERICAN ARCHIVISTS (SAA)
The Program Committee invites you to submit program session proposals
for the SAA Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois, August 24-31, 1997. The
proposal deadline date is October 11, 1996. Please note that this deadline
will be a firm one, and proposals must be faxed or postmarked no later
than the deadline date.
The Program Committee hopes to feature a special program track next
year on the *Transformation of the Archival Enterprise in the Information
Age.* A description of what the Program Committee means by the
*Transformation Track* is in a second message (part 2) following this
one.
Please note, however, that the impact of information technology will not
be the theme of the entire SAA meeting in 1997, just the focus of one
program track. The majority of program slots at the meeting will still be
available for proposals covering the full range of other subjects of
interest to our profession.
Program proposals should be postmarked or faxed by October 11, 1996
and directed to the Program Chair, Marie Allen, 8601 Adelphi Road,
National Archives and Records Administration (NI), College Park, MD
20740-6001; FAX: 301-713-6850. If a proposal is endorsed by an SAA
Section(s), Committee or Roundtable, or another professional
organization, please include an endorsement letter from the appropriate
Chair with the proposal.
