Greetings:

A CIMI Profile Implementors Meeting will be held on Friday, September
20, 1996, at the Library of Congress, Room LM-605 (Madison Building).
The meeting will run from 9am - 5pm.

The CIMI Z39.50 Application Profile is currently in draft stage.
A copy of the draft Profile is available via anonymous FTP at:

<ftp://ftp.cimi.org/pub/cimi/CIMI_Profile/profile.[ps, doc, rtf]>

or at the Z39.50 Maintenance Agency web site:

<http://lcweb.loc.gov/z3950/agency/profiles/cimi2.html>

There are two primary purposes of the meeting:
1) discuss technical implementation issues related to the CIMI
    Profile; and
2) discuss and plan interoperability testing of implementations
    supporting the CIMI Profile.

This meeting will provide a forum for CIMI Profile implementors to
discuss implementation plans and strategies, and to work through
issues related to supporting the CIMI Profile. The preliminary
agenda follows below.

The meeting is open to anyone interested in the technical
implementation of the CIMI Profile and interoperability testing.

The basic agenda will cover:

1. Current status of profiles -- CIMI, Digital Collection, and Digital
Library Objects. We'll want to discuss if there is any changes in the
Collections Profile or the recent Digital Library Objects profile that
may need to be accommodated in the CIMI Profile.

2. Current status of Z-Lite and Z-Stairs initiatives and their
implications, if any, for the CIMI Profile.

3. Technical discussion on implementation of the CIMI Profile.

4. Interoperability testing planning. Intended to lay out timelines
for implementation, and to identify the best way to begin
interoperability testing of Profile implementations. The result of
this discussion will be a document that summarizes interoperability
testing plans and logistics.

If you are interested in attending the meeting, please contact me by
Tuesday, September 16.

Thank you.
Bill
