In preparation for our brief informal meeting in Boston on July 15 and our
first formal meeting at ARL on August 16, four documents have been
prepared:

1. A preliminary analysis (count) of the Diet Directory of Japanese
Scientific Periodicals.
2. A list of topics for the working group to discuss.
3. A summary of points in the AAU task force report related to the Japanese
demonstration project.
4. A preliminary draft of a project work plan.

Documents 2,3 and 4 are being placed on this list-serv today. Because the
first document was created in MS Word for the Mac using a table format, the
Diet list analysis does not translate well to text so it can be emailed and
remain readable (the columns are lost, etc.).  I will be happy to fax the
first document to anyone up to 6:00 PM CDT today, Tuesday, July 12.  All
documents will be distributed on paper to those working group members
attending the Boston lunch meeting and then by mail to the entire working
group with a summary of the Boston session.

The agenda for the very brief Boston session is to review current documents
and activities (as much as time permits) and to prepare an agenda for
August 16.  The August 16 meeting will focus on the Work Plan.

Let me add my thanks to ARL's for your service on this working group.  See
you in Boston and/or Washington.
