Subject: Do-it-yourself or purchased systems?
Hi - I'm a library student and library technician at the University of
Kentucky. I'm doing a paper on electronic reserves and wanted to ask for
some input from members of this list. I've found a few libraries using
purchased packages, in particular ERes from Docutek Information Systems.
Does anyone have any comments on why you did or did not purchase an existing
electronic reserves system, and how happy you are if you did? ERes allows
faculty members to make their own updates and additions to their course
reserve materials, and I was especially interested in hearing about how
faculty like this - do many of them do it, and are there any problems with
it. Any other opinions on what makes a good e_reserve system would also be
appreciated! Thanks very much! -Beth Kraemer (kraemer@pop.uky.edu)
