OCLC/ARL Symposium "New Directions in Resource Sharing"

Discover new resource sharing options. Hear how librarians have implemented
innovative resource sharing systems. Open a dialogue with library leaders
in the field.
Sponsored by: OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. and the
Association of Research Libraries
Registration: This program is free and open to all attendees of the ALA
Midwinter '99 Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. Due to limited seating,
registration is required. To attend, please send your name, institution and

Proceedings: Printed proceedings will be prepared by OCLC and distributed

2:45-3:10 p.m. Two Different Strategies With a Common Goal
Barbara Allen, Committee on Institutional Cooperation, CIC, Tammy

Mary Jackson will moderate a panel discussion comparing two alternative
resource sharing systems. You'll discover the staff resources and
expertise required to maintain both systems. Plus, you will be included
in the dialogue to identify benefits and risks of future ILL models.
3:10-3:35 p.m. A View From the Trenches
Tom Delaney, ILL Librarian, Colorado State University
As a former ILL librarian, Mary Jackson will interview Tom Delaney, the
current ILL librarian at Colorado State, to discuss the trends that are
emerging in Resource Sharing and how ILL managers are implementing
technologies, systems and services in their library.
